Founded in 1982, the Alabama State Games are in their 31st year of providing a premiere amatuer multi-sport event for the athletes of Alabama. The Alabama State Games is Alabama's largest annual multi-sport amatuer athletic event with over 25 sports and hundreds of events designed for athletes of all ages, abilities and skill levels. The Alabama State Games program is a proud member of the National Congress of State Games and a participant in the State Games of America.

Watch the highlights from the fabulous 2013 Opening Ceremonies that were broadcast on live statewide television. The ceremony took place June 2013 at the BJCC Arena in Birmingham, Alabama.
On Wednesday, November 20, 2013, Governor Robert Bentley and the ASF Foundation recognized the ASF Foundation 2013 Male and Female Athletes of the Year. Both athletes received a signed proclamation from Gov. Bentley and a medal recognizing them for this outstanding achievement.
The Olympic Torch is lit for the 2013 Alabama State Games in Birmingham. The Opening Ceremonies were broadcast live on statewide television.

Hannah Cherry sings the National Anthem for the 2013 Alabama State Games Opening Ceremonies. The Opening Ceremonies took place at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Center and were broadcast live on statewide television.
The pledge of allegiance was then led by Jefferson County District Attorney Brandon K. Falls and local area Boy Scouts.
Thanks to Governor Robert Bentley, the Alabama State Legislature and the ASF Foundation, JHR 57 was passed and signed by Governor Bentley establishing the Alabama Legislature Meritorious Scouting Award to honor all active in Alabama Scouting (all areas) and the Alabama Legislature Certificate of Appreciation to honor all Chartered Organizations Hosting Scouting Units. The Alabama Legislature designated Friday, June 21, 2013, Day of Appreciation for Boy Scouts of Alabama.
